September 9, 1943 - May 11, 2024

Wava Jane (Stittums) Paulus,

Age 80, of Basinburg Road, Fort Loramie, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2024, at the Miami Valley Hospital, in Dayton, Ohio.  She was born September 9, 1943, in Lafayette, Tennessee, to the late Margaret White and John “Cecil” Stittums.  On June 1, 1964, at St. Remy Catholic Church in Russia, Wava married Ronald A. Paulus who preceded her in death on April 10, 2021.  Surviving are three of four children: Mary Ann & Jeff Greene (both dec.), Anthony & Diana Paulus, Kirby & Jill Paulus, and Jason & Jennifer Paulus, all of Fort Loramie; eight of nine grandchildren: Andrew Swob (dec.), Jeffrey Greene, Dani, TJ, Madison, Karlee, Savannah, Allison and Emery Paulus; two great-grandchildren, Christian Swob and Oliver Browning as well as two sister’s in-law, Florence McCalla and Rose Ann Paulus, both of Russia.  She was preceded in death by her step mother, Opal Stittums and her grandmother, Mary “Edith” Stittums who had been her steadfast mother figure as well as three brothers-in-law, Mark McCalla, Victor Siefring and Frederick Paulus.

Wava was a 1961 graduate of Sidney High School.  She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the local homemakers group.  Wava was a homemaker dedicated to her family.  She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, cooking, sewing, scrap-booking, crafting and collecting vintage dolls.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 16, 2024, at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. Andrew Reckers presiding.  Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.  Family and friends may call Wednesday, 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Thursday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.  Memorials may be made to the Fort Loramie Rescue Squad or Fort Loramie Fire Department.  Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
