obituary

Steven P. Kramer

October 4, 1960 - April 19, 2026

Steven Patrick Kramer

Age 65, of Murphy Road in Versailles, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on April 19, 2026, from a farm implement accident near the home farm on Medford Road in Versailles, Ohio. He was born October 4, 1960 in Greenville, Ohio to Patricia (Subler) Kramer and the late Eugene Kramer of Versailles. Steve is survived by his wife, Martha (Wittmann) Kramer, the love of his life, whom he married on April 2, 2005, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Kettering. He is survived by his mother, Pat, and five siblings: Michael & Lois Kramer of Versailles, Ronald & Jane Kramer of Versailles, Douglas & Kim Kramer of Richardson, TX, David Kramer of Maria Stein and Linda & Steve Berger of Yorkshire; father-in-law, Thomas Wittmann of Kettering; brothers and sisters-in-law: Rev. Christopher Wittmann S.M. of Honolulu, Anne & Chris Athmer of Dayton, John & Jane Wittmann of Dayton, Beth & Steve Wright of Cincinnati, Joe & Amy Wittmann of Kettering and numerous nieces and nephews: Angela & Justin Armstrong, Amy & Andrew Gruden, Karen & Rick Vaught, Ashley & Vince Rohr, Abbigail & Frank Adams, Thomas Kramer & Bailey France, Joshua Kramer & Tara Flaherty, Nicole Kramer, Derick & Kristine Kramer, Melisha & Kent Jansen, Kyle Kramer & Brad Tomcho, Brandon, Brett & Tabitha and Rev. Brice Berger, Makayla & Justin Rose and Marcus Berger, Kate & Rob Johnson, Jackie & Kyle Kozinski, Greg & Katie Wright, Mike & Anna Wright, Chris & Anna Morlight, Nick Wright & Abby Connor, Julie & Marty Carrabine, Thomas & Jill Wittmann, Danny Wittmann & Lizzy Schmitt, Paul & Regan, Luke, Sam and Meg Wittmann. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene, and his mother-in-law, Carolyn (Stueve) Wittmann.

Steve was a 1979 graduate of Versailles High School and acquired an Associate’s degree in Accounting from Edison State Community College. Steve was engaged in farming all of his life, and he especially loved working with his dad and Martha. He was also a crop insurance sales agent for Great American Insurance Group of Cincinnati since 2007. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown and St. Denis Knights of Columbus.

Steve was kind, patient and generously gave his time and attention to the needs of his parents, family and friends. He was a favorite among his nieces and nephews for combine and tractor rides and he taught them how to enjoy ice cream. He was known for his calming presence, genuine smile and easy-going personality. He never met a stranger. A handshake and a smile were extended to everyone he met. He was well known, highly respected and deeply admired throughout the community.  His love of the land was evident in the meticulous and bountiful farm he tended. Like many farmers he was also an excellent mechanic. Steve enjoyed working and problem solving and was a natural teacher to those around him. When he could get away, he especially enjoyed family vacations in Canada and multiple other trips including Hawaii. He was deeply loved and valued by all and will be sorely missed.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 27, 2026 at 10:30AM at St. Denis Church in Versailles with Rev. Christopher Wittmann and Rev. Brice Berger presiding. Interment will follow at St. Valbert Cemetery.  Family and friends may call Sunday, 2:00 to 7:00PM and Monday 8:30 to 9:30AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.  Memorial donations may be made to Osgood Area Rescue, Versailles EMS or charities of choice.
