Shirley Ann (Wendel) Wenning,

Age 75, of Channel Drive, Celina, passed away peacefully of natural causes Wednesday evening, January 15, 2025, at the Kettering Health Dayton medical center in Dayton, Ohio.  She was born February 3, 1949, in Celina, Ohio, to the late Arthur & Bernadine (Drees) Wendel.  On October 25, 1967, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Sharpsburg, Shirley married Nick Wenning who survives.  Also surviving are two children, Shelly & John Capal of Maineville and Jeff & Debbie Wenning of Maria Stein; six grandchildren: Jonathan, Nicholas and Morgan Capal and Josh, Joey and Catie Wenning, along with three great-grandchildren, Cooper and Chase Capal and Charlie Wenning; three siblings: Jerry & Ann Wendel of New Weston, Karen & Mark Brooks of Union City, Elaine Witters of Beavercreek and sisters & brothers-in-law: Lois Wendel of Greenville, David & Janet Wenning of Greenville, Ginny & Randy Gerlach of St. Henry, Sue Kremer of Englewood, Nancy & Bill Link of Fort Recovery, Marty & Cecelia Wenning of Burkettsville, Mary & BJ Mattingly of St. Henry, Julie & Tom Kessen of Carthagena and Joann & Randy Liette of Chickasaw as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Wendel, a brother-in-law, Terry Kremer and her father & mother-in-law, Harold & Bertha (Eilerman) Wenning.

Shirley was a 1967 graduate of Mississinawa Valley High School in Union City.  She retired from Midmark Corporation of Versailles where she had been a human resource specialist for 26 years.  She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Goat Farmers, and the Lake Area Arts Group.  Shirley was lovingly dedicated to her husband and family.  She also had a passion for art and specialized in alcohol ink paintings.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Montezuma with Rev. Adam Berning presiding.  A fellowship luncheon will follow in the church basement.  The family will assemble for a 2:00 PM interment service at St. Martin Cemetery in Osgood.  Memorials may be made to the Cancer Association of Mercer County or charities of choice.  Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
