Ruby Henrietta (Hoening) Monnier,

Age 93, of Hughes Road, Houston, passed away of natural causes early Monday morning, June 5, 2023, at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She was born December 6, 1929, in Wendelin, Ohio, to the late Paul & Rose (Hart) Hoening. On August 13, 1949, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Burkettsville, Ruby married George J. Monnier who survives. Also surviving are five children: Georgia Monnier of Piqua, Dennis & Cindy Monnier of Maplewood, Paul & Doris Monnier of Houston, Jennifer Monnier of Houston and Beth Moore of Whitehall; Ten grandchildren: Amanda Moore, Michael & Christine Moore, Emily & Carl Lichtenberg, Kathy Monnier, Danielle & Ryan Poeppelman, Nicholas, Jacob, Jennifer, Sarah and Jessica Monnier; eleven great-grandchildren: Jason, Kamron, Akeira, Kellen, Oliver, Emma, Levi, Grace, Gus, Reese and Ivy; two sisters, Madonna McCarthy of New Carlisle, Joan Helton of Troy and two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Hoening of West Milton and Margaret Hoening of Versailles along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Eugene and infant Paul Hoening; brothers & sisters-in-law: Charles McCarthy, Millard & Betty Monnier, Marjorie Godown, James Monnier, Richard Monnier, Mary Lou Stefanakas, David & Phyllis Monnier, Barbara Mitchell and Harrison & Naomie Monnier as well as father & mother in-law, Leonard & Winiford (Monnin) Monnier.

Mrs. Monnier was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. She had been a dedicated homemaker and farm wife. She enjoyed cooking, canning and gardening. Ruby was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who referred to her as “Best Dah Ever”.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Friday, June 9, 2023, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Newport with Stephen Mondiek presiding. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. A luncheon will be provided after services in the church basement. Memorials may be made to charities of choice. Private condolences may be expressed at www.gehretfuneralhome.com.
