Rita Ann (Couchot) Boerger,

Age 85, of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Fort Loramie, OH, passed away peacefully on Hospice at her daughter’s residence on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 12:52 am.  She was born on March 20, 1941, in Fort Loramie, OH, to the late Joseph and Margaret (Batty) Couchot.  Rita is survived by her children: Andrew (Lori) Boerger of Sidney, OH, Eve (Dean) Paquet of Bradenton, FL, and foster daughter Jerrilyn (Brotherwood) Colvin; grandchildren, Adrien Boerger, Ashton Boerger, Arron Boerger, all of Sidney, OH, Ian Paquet and Evan Paquet, both of Bradenton, FL, along with one great grandson, Nash.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband Harry, whom she married on September 3, 1960 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Newport, OH; her parents, her sisters; Eileen Couchot, Ruth Pitsenbarger and Helen Ault, brothers-in-law; Vaughn Pitsenbarger and William Ault.

Rita was a graduate of Fort Loramie High School. She retired from S.E. Johnson Companies in 2003.  She enjoyed volunteering as an usher at The Melon Patch Theatre, her community Red Hats Society, delivering her community’s weekly bulletin, crocheting, reading, shopping, Hallmark movies, spending time with friends, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren playing euchre, dominoes, and Hand-and-Foot.  As a devout Catholic, she was a member of the Community of St. Paul Catholic Church in Leesburg, FL, and a former, long-time member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie, OH. Rita and her late husband Harry retired to Hawthorne at Leesburg, Leesburg, FL, in 2003, and were active members in the Hawthorne Community.

A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Saturday, July 31, 2027, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie, OH.  Interment of cremains will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Fort Loramie, OH.  A memorial luncheon will take place immediately following committal services at the Fort Loramie American Legion Hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances can be made in Rita’s name to any local Hospice provider or a charity of one’s choice.  Private condolences can be expressed at the www.gehretfuneralhome.com website.
