Patricia A. Holthaus

June 19, 1947 - August 14, 2026

Patricia “Pat” Ann (Franz) Holthaus,

Age 79, of Cisco Road, Sidney, passed away peacefully of natural causes Friday evening, August 14, 2026, at the Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.  She was born June 19, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Albin & Monica (Moeller) Franz.  On November 21, 1970, at Transfiguration Catholic Church in West Milton, Pat married Harold “Hank” Holthaus who preceded her in death on November 16, 2025.  Surviving are four children: Mark Holthaus of Fort Loramie, Michael Holthaus of Fort Loramie, Jennifer & Christopher Kloeker of Troy and Brian & Corrie (Barga) Holthaus of Minster; eight grandchildren: Tara & Ryan Schulze, Megan Holthaus, Kelsi & Austin Albers, Austin & Alexandra Kloeker, Ashley Kloeker, Carmen Holthaus, Hank Holthaus and Allie Holthaus along with three great-grandchildren: Cameron, Kaden and Addison Schulze; two brothers, Daniel & Linda Franz of Englewood and James & Deb Franz of Bellbrook; sisters & brothers-in-law, Velma Mayl of Kettering and Eugene & Joyce Holthaus of Sidney as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by sisters & brothers-in-law: Sally Franz, Norbert & Marian Holthaus, Richard Holthaus and William Mayl.

Pat was a 1966 graduate of Franklin Monroe High School in Pitsburg, OH.  Mrs. Holthaus was a dedicated homemaker and farmwife.  Over the years, she also worked at the Walmart Bakery in Sidney, Dayton Power & Light in Sidney and St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton.  She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Newport where she had been a long-time religion teacher, served on parish council and turkey festival committees.  She was also active in the Caring Hands program and helped to establish the Sts. Peter & Paul, St. Vincent De Paul chapter.  Pat enjoyed playing cards, golf and being with her family.  Her bright smile and recognizable laugh would fill any room with a welcoming spirit.  She also valued all of her CCD students over the years, as if they were part of her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. John Tonkin, Rev. Steven Shoup and Deacon Paul Timmerman presiding.  Interment will follow at Sts. Peter & Paul Church Cemetery in Newport. Family and friends may call Wednesday, 2:00 to 7:00 PM and Thursday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.  Memorials may be made to the NFL region St. Vincent DePaul Society or charities of choice.  Private condolences may be expressed at the www.gehretfuneralhome.com website.
