Janice Louise (Burchett) Aselage,
Age 67, of Sherman Road in Russia, Ohio, passed away of natural causes, peacefully, with her family by her side, at her residence, Tuesday morning, March 24, 2026. She was born March 24, 1959, in St. Marys, Ohio, to the late Waldo & Norma (Naber) Burchett. On March 14, 1980, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, Janice married Gerald “Jerry” Aselage who survives. Also surviving are three children: Jodi & Keith Timmerman of New Bremen, John & Amber Aselage of Fort Loramie and Justin & Megan Aselage of Russia; 12 grandchildren: Zachary, Joshua, Elijah and Isaiah Timmerman; Camden, Bensen, Roman and Warren Aselage; Carson, Gabriel, Lincoln and Reagan Aselage; four siblings: Ann & Kerry Sparks of Columbus, Patricia & Jack Roetgerman of Minster, Mary Jo & Jeff Monnin of Minster and Beth & John Winner of Minster; sisters & brothers-in-law: Linda & Richard Hoying of Minster and Joyce Subler & fiancé, John Schmerge of Fort Loramie; numerous nieces and nephews as well as her affectionately adopted family of Burleson, TX: Joetta (dec.) & Glenn Kleine, Leslie & Cecelia Kleine and Kristi & Joey Kratky. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Darrel Kelbel and her in-laws, Henry & Edna Aselage.
Janice was a 1977 graduate of Minster High School. In 2025, she retired from Minster Schools where she worked in food service. She previously had been employed 25 years at Advanced Composites in Sidney where she worked in customer service. She also worked for Overhead Doors of Dayton and had been a Texas daycare worker during their 15 years in Fort Worth, TX. Janice was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Ladies Sodality. She was dedicated to her family. Over the years, Janice enjoyed following her children and grandchildren’s sports and school activities. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends, visiting major league baseball parks and cities with Jerry, baking cookies and just being “Mimi” for the little ones.
Mass of Christian Burial be celebrated 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. John W. Tonkin and Deacon Paul Timmerman presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Family and friends may call Monday 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Tuesday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie. Memorials may be made to the Fort Loramie Rescue Squad or charities of choice. Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
