Judith E. Francis

Judith “Judy” Elaine Francis,

Age 82, of Fort Jefferson Ave., Greenville, passed away of natural causes Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2026, at the Kettering Health Dayton hospital, in Dayton, Ohio.  She was born December 2, 1943, in Piqua, Ohio, to the late Clarence & Helen (Frey) Francis.  Surviving are four siblings: Marie & Richard Henman of Newport, Barbara Monnin of Piqua, Shirley Powers of Evansville, WI, Susan Francis of Fort Loramie and a sister-in-law, June Francis of Piqua as well as generations of nieces and nephews and a dear friend of the family, Carol Hertel.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, James & Hilda Francis, Larry & Dorothy Francis and brothers & sisters-in-law: Wm. Eldon Monnin, Marlin Powers and Miyako Francis.

Judy was a 1961 graduate of Houston High School.  She retired from ODOT in Greenville where she primarily worked in highway maintenance and had been a snow plow driver.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Greenville and a past member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Newport.  Judy was a proud advocate and representative of the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association (OCSEA).  She had also been president of the Darke County Humane Society and managed the “PAWS” bingo events for many years.  Judy was dedicated to her family and had been especially close to her nieces and nephews.  She loved to travel and games of chance.  She also enjoyed camping, gardening, ceramics, woodworking and listening to 60’s pop music.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Newport with Rev. Alex Biryomumeisho presiding.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Family and friends may call Wednesday, 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Thursday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.  Memorials may be made to Mercy Mission House of Sidney or charities of choice.  Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
