Stanley Robert Schlater,
Age 71, of Willowdell Road, Versailles, passed away of natural causes Thursday evening, February 26, 2026, at the Wilson Health Hospital, ER, in Sidney, Ohio. He was born May 22, 1954, in Coldwater, Ohio, to the late Norbert & Alvira (Schulze) Schlater. On May 13, 1978, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney, Stanley married Rita (Soder) Schlater who survives. Also surviving are three children: Ben & Jenni Schlater of Greenville, Mitch & Emily Schlater of St. Henry and Becky & Josh Bruns of Willowdell; ten grandchildren: Trevor & Alexis Brumbaugh, Nick Brumbaugh, Kaitlyn Schlater, Hank and Winnie Schlater, Mason, Brook, Braxton, Mathis and Brenna Bruns; eleven siblings: Ron & Diana Schlater of St. Paris, Roger & Shirley Schlater of Versailles, Dave Schlater of Eaton, Karen & Jeff Keiser of Troy, Vicky & Stan Nuding of Celina, Mike & Jane Schlater of St. Marys, Mark & Shirley Schlater of St. Paris, Jane & Jim Pucket of Xenia, Denis Schlater of Coldwater, Dale & Kathy Schlater of Versailles and Lois & Dave Bruns of Versailles; sisters & brothers-in-law: Mary Ellen & Al Fry of Wapakoneta, Pat & Linda Soder of Sidney and John Soder of Sidney along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters & brothers-in-law: Mary Jo Schlater, Dave Soder and Jim Soder.
Mr. Schlater was a 1972 graduate of Versailles High School. In 2016 he retired from Superior Aluminum Products of Russia. Over the years Stan also worked for Plastic Recycling Technology of Versailles, Worch Lumber Co. of Versailles, Baumfolder Corp. of Sidney and the former Airstream, Argosy Trailers of Versailles. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church and the Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles. Stan was an avid outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed fishing, hunting wild game and searching for arrowheads. He was also a fan of any kind of sports and followed all of the local teams.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at St. Denis Church in Versailles with Rev. Ned Brown presiding. Interment will follow at St. Valbert Cemetery. Family and friends may call Tuesday, 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Wednesday, 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie. Memorials may be made to the Lake Loramie Improvement Association or charities of choice. Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
