Herbert R. Fleckenstein,

Age 90, of Barhorst Road, Fort Loramie, Ohio, passed away of natural causes at his residence Tuesday evening, December 11, 2018. He was born March 21, 1928, in Anna, Ohio to the late George and Rose Mary (Daniel) Fleckenstein. On September 15, 1951,
at St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Patrick, Herb married Rita M. Fleckenstein who survives. Also surviving are six children: David & Jennifer Fleckenstein of Anna, Rick Fleckenstein of Houston, Linda Epperly of Fort Loramie, Mary Lou & Larry Gehret of Fort Loramie, Larry & Alys Fleckenstein of Fort Loramie and Tracy Coverstone of Newport; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters & brothers-in-law: Ruth Richard of Anna, Bill & Joyce Luthman of Russia, Fred Drees of Russia, Nancy Luthman of Russia, Willie Sturwald of Russia, Norma Barhorst of Fort Loramie, Carol & Ray Homan of Anna and Larry & Bonnie Luthman of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Fleckenstein and a daughter-in-law, Susan Fleckenstein; two grandchildren; five siblings: Ed & Ethel Fleckenstein, Henry Fleckenstein, Evelyn & Alvin Busse, Jim & Pat Fleckenstein, George "Alvin" & Mary Jane Fleckenstein and sisters & brothers-in-law: Irene Luthman, Paul Richard, Eileen Drees, Ken Luthman, Mary Jane Sturwald, Lionel Barhorst, Bob Luthman and Alvin Luthman.

Mr. Fleckenstein was a 1946 graduate of Fort Loramie High School. He retired in 1991 from the Minster Machine Co. where he had been employed 42 years. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and the Shelby County Deer Hunters. Herb was an avid outdoorsman; he especially enjoyed cane pole fishing and walks in the woods. Years ago he also enjoyed horseback riding.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Tuesday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie. Memorials may be made to the Fort Loramie Rescue Squad or charity of donor's choice.
