James Clarence Plas,
Age 75, formerly of Hoying Road, St. Patrick, passed away of natural causes Tuesday morning, October 2, 2018, at Fair Haven Shelby County Home in Sidney, Ohio. He was born February 6, 1943, in St. Patrick, Ohio to the late John Sr. and Martha (Francis) Plas. Surviving are three siblings, Janice Plas of Houston, TX, Judith Walls of Houston, TX and John Jr. & Cindy Plas of Fort Loramie; nieces & nephews: Jennifer Walls, Kristen & Aron Osborne, Katelyn Plas, Aaron Plas and one great nephew, Bennett Osborne as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by several uncles and aunts.
Jim attended Fort Loramie Schools before serving five and one half years in the Ohio National Guard & Army Reserves. He retired in 2005 from the Minster Machine Company where he had been employed 40 years. Years ago he worked for Middendorf Elevator and Stock Yards. Jim was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church as well as a life member & past commander of the Fort Loramie American Legion. He retired from the Fort Loramie Volunteer Fire Department after 35 years of service. He was also a past member of the Minster Fraternal Order of Eagles, Piqua Moose Lodge and St. Michael Knights of St. John. Jim was a dedicated (multi gallon) blood donor.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday 10:30 AM, October 9, 2018, at Gehret Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Shoup presiding. Interment of cremains will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie. Memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
